EpicAngel - TCA's Highway Angel of the Year Award

At TCA’s Annual Convention each year, EpicVue and TCA co-present the “EpicAngel” Highway Angel of the Year Award to the professional truck driver who best embodied the spirit of the program during the prior year.

2015 Highway Angel of the Year

The 2015 “EpicAngel” is Josh Grimaldi of Springfield, Missouri, a professional truck driver for Prime, Inc., also of Springfield, Missouri.

The recognition ceremony took place Monday, March 7, 2016, at the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. First, Lance Platt, CEO of the Salt Lake City, Utah-based EpicVue, presented Grimaldi with a trophy and prize, a complimentary EpicVue satellite TV package. Then, Nashville recording artist Lindsay Lawler, the official spokesperson of the Highway Angel program, sang one of her songs, appropriately titled “Highway Angel.”

Grimaldi’s good deed took place on a cold and snowy evening in December 2015, when he rescued a pregnant woman from her car after she became trapped during a severe rollover accident. For the complete story about what Grimaldi did that day, click here.

2014 Highway Angel of the Year

At TCA’s 2015 Annual Convention, the inaugural EpicAngel award recipient, David Ragland of Cotopaxi, Colorado, a professional truck driver with Kelle’s Transport Service of West Valley City, Utah, was recognized. Ragland played a key role in saving two children’s lives after the car they were in swerved off the road, crumpled in half, turned upside down, and caught on fire. For the complete story about what Ragland did on that fateful day, click here.

As the “2014 EpicAngel,” Ragland, a veteran of the U.S. Army, was awarded a trophy saluting his willingness to stop and help that day. Sadly, on April 30, TCA received word that Ragland had lost his courageous battle with cancer. He asked that his complimentary EpicVue satellite TV package be given to a fellow driver.
